Kia has officially launched the EV2 in the UK — its smallest and most accessible electric car to date. Unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show earlier this year, it goes on sale now with deliveries expected later in 2026, and it arrives with a starting price that makes it one of the best-value electric SUVs currently available under £25,000.

What Is It?

The EV2 is a compact five-seat electric SUV measuring approximately 4,060mm in length — shorter than the EV3, and designed specifically for European buyers. It sits below the EV3 in Kia’s growing electric line-up and is built in Žilina, Slovakia, making it one of the few EVs in this price bracket manufactured within Europe.

Batteries and Range

Two battery options are available:

  • 42.2kWh (standard range): Up to 197 miles WLTP. Available on the First Edition trim only.
  • 61kWh (long range): Up to 281 miles WLTP. Available across Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S trims — and, thanks to Kia’s Reservation Saving, is currently the cheaper option to buy.

Both charge from 10–80% in approximately 30 minutes via a DC rapid charger at up to 127kW. AC charging is supported at up to 11kW.

Pricing and Trims

Kia is applying a £3,750 Reservation Saving on most EV2 models (mirroring the Electric Car Grant, pending its official approval), and a £1,500 saving on the First Edition.

Trim Battery Price (after saving)
Air 61kWh From £24,245
First Edition 42.2kWh From £26,995
GT-Line 61kWh From £28,995
GT-Line S 61kWh From £32,595

What You Get

Even the entry-level Air is generously equipped. Standard features across the range include dual 12.3-inch displays, LED headlights, heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Kia’s full Highway Driving Assist 2.0 safety suite. The AI Personal Assistant and over-the-air updates are also standard.

GT-Line and above add 19-inch alloys, premium upholstery, wireless phone charging and a powered driver’s seat. GT-Line S adds ventilated seats, ambient lighting and a digital key.

Practicality

The EV2 offers 362 litres of boot space, expandable to 1,201 litres with the rear seats folded. GT-Line and above add a 15-litre front storage compartment. The long wheelbase of 2,565mm gives the cabin more interior space than the compact exterior dimensions suggest.

What About the Warranty?

Like every Kia, the EV2 comes with a seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty — one of the longest available from any mainstream manufacturer in the UK, and it includes the high-voltage battery.

Who Should Consider It?

The EV2 targets urban and suburban drivers who want genuine electric range (up to 281 miles), modern technology, and a compact footprint — at a price that makes the switch to electric genuinely accessible. First customer deliveries are expected later in 2026. Test drive events are running at Kia UK dealers from 16 April.
