Electrifying Debut at Goodwood
Goodwood was where we first got to see the MG IM5 and IM6 in the metal, and they definitely turned a few heads. They’ve got bold styling, loads of kit, and prices that could tempt a few folks away from more expensive EVs. These two mark a new direction for MG too – they’re part of what the brand is calling its Intelligent Mobility line-up, aimed more at the executive and performance end of the market.
The IM5 is a stylish electric saloon packed with tech, while the IM6 is the more practical SUV option, though it doesn’t skimp on high-end features. MG’s team said the focus here is on tech, comfort, and performance – and from what we’ve seen so far, they aren’t messing around.

Pricing and Trim Levels
So, here’s what the IM5 is going to cost you, depending on the version:
- Standard Range (75kWh, RWD) – £39,450
- Long Range (100kWh, RWD) – £44,995
- Performance (100kWh, AWD, 751PS) – £48,495
And if you’re leaning toward the IM6 SUV, here’s how that shapes up:
- Long Range (100kWh, RWD) – £47,995
- Performance (100kWh, AWD) – £50,995
- Launch Edition – £52,995 (this one comes with extras like air suspension and more tech thrown in)
You can already place an order at dealerships across the UK, and first deliveries are due to land in September 2025.
Tech-Led Platforms and Performance Specs
One of the big talking points is MG’s brand-new 800V platform, which supports seriously fast DC charging. That means way less time plugged in compared to most EVs on the road now – handy if you’re always on the go.
As for speed, the IM5 Performance model pushes out a beastly 751PS (about 741bhp), and it’ll do 0–62mph in under 3.2 seconds. The IM6 SUV isn’t far behind either, hitting 0–62mph in about 3.5 seconds.
If you’re worrying about range, the good news is that both the IM5 and IM6 with the 100kWh RWD setups can do up to 441 miles on a full charge. The base IM5 Standard Range version still gets a decent 331 miles too.

Next-Level Interiors
Hop inside the IM5 and it definitely feels like MG’s trying to punch above its usual weight. There’s a massive 26.3-inch panoramic screen running across the dashboard and another 10.5-inch touch panel in the middle.
And both cars are kitted out nicely – think artificial leather seats that heat up and cool down, reclining back seats, a panoramic roof, and some clever AI-driven extras like ‘Rainy Night Mode’ for added comfort when the weather closes in.
You also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a full suite of driver assists, frameless doors, and adaptive features like active grille shutters. The IM6 Launch Edition even gets air suspension. Storage seems spot-on too – 457 litres in the IM5’s boot plus a little frunk, while the IM6 has 665 litres out back and another 32 litres up front.

Premium Ambitions
MG’s clearly aiming higher here. At Goodwood, one of their team said, “These are features you’d expect of £40k+ cars,” and it’s hard to argue with that. These new models are going after drivers who might otherwise be eyeing up a Tesla Model 3, Polestar 2 or a BMW iX, and they seem to hold up pretty well in that company – at least from what we’ve seen so far.
What to Expect Next
Of course, exact delivery times might shift a bit depending on availability and demand, but MG says things will kick off from September 2025. They’re also promising more info on software and connectivity features as we get closer to launch.
Interest looks strong already – loads of searches around “MG IM5 vs Tesla Model 3” and “MG IM6 specs”, especially in places like London, Manchester and Birmingham.
With slick looks, proper performance and loads of modern tech, these two could shake things up in the premium EV game. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more hands-on reviews once they start rolling onto UK roads.
